Fair take. Most tricks look sketchy or break stuff. Background App Refresh off helps, not foolproof.
Try this instead. Stop sharing with specific people. Open Find My, People, pick the person, tap Stop Sharing Location. Or in Messages, open the chat, tap the name, Stop Sharing My Location. Phone stays on. You still recieve calls and alerts. Their map stops updating fast. Often shows No Location Found. Turn sharing back on anytime.
